University Accommodation

A reservation for 40 single rooms has been obtained in Murano Street Student Village. This is a new development owned by the University of Glasgow. It consists of flats comprising 5 single rooms each. Each room has a wash basin and bedsheets are provided. Toilets and showers are shared between the occupants of a flat; there is also a communal sitting room with kitchen (kitchen utensils are provided).

The rate is GBP 16 per person per night and includes breakfast.

Allocation will be on a first-come-first-served-basis. As the reservation is for 4 nights only (arrival 4 June, departure 8 June), anyone intending to stay longer is advised to make an accommodation booking with the organizers as soon as possible.

Murano Street Student Village is about 20 minutes walking distance from the conference/workshop venue. Public transport and taxis are of course available. The University may provide shuttle buses for special occasions such as the conference dinner.

Bed and Breakfast and Hotel Accommodation

Glasgow has a large number of Bed and Breakfast as well as Hotel accommodation with many establishments located in the West End near the University of Glasgow. Rates start at around GBP 22 for a Bed and Breakfast per person per night for a single room. The organizers are happy to make a booking upon specification of details such as acceptable price range, etc. (see REGISTRATION AND ACCOMMODATION BOOKING FORM).

A detailed list of Bed and Breakfast establishments and Hotels can be made available upon request.

Early booking (also for anyone wishing to make his/her own accommodation arrangements) is advised. Early June can already be a busy time for accommodation, especially in close vicinity of the University of GLasgow.

Anyone wishing to stay in Glasgow well after BIANISOTROPICS'97 should be aware that the International Rotarian Conference will commence on 15 June 1997. There is practically no accommodation available anymore from that day onwards and it is possible that the situation will affect the days immediately leading up to that date as time goes by.
