Hi! I'm Luke Hamblin.

I'm a PhD student in the Analysis group at the University of Glasgow. I study Operator Algebras under the supervision of Joachim Zacharias and Mike Whittaker.

  1. An Introduction to Geometric Group Theory.
University of Glasgow Postgraduate seminar, April 2016.

  2. The Basics of Bost-Connes Systems.
Series of two talks. University of Glasgow, May-June 2016.

  3. Groupoids and their C*-algebras.
Series of two talks. University of Glasgow, October 2016.

  • In my fourth year at the University of Warwick I supervised a group of 6 first-year Discrete Mathematics students. My responsibilities included marking their weekly assignments, and meeting them for bi-weekly hour long teaching sessions in which I presented important material from their course.

  • Currently I am a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Glasgow. Last year I tutored the Maths 2E: Introduction to Real Analysis course. This involved assisting in tutorial sessions and marking assignments. This year I am tutoring Mathematics 1R and 1S, a pair of introductory courses designed to bridge the gap between school and university level maths. I look forward to continuing to tutor more courses in the future and hope to take on greater responsibility in this direction during the next academic year.

  • If you happen to be in one of my tutorials, please feel free to contact me with any questions you're struggling with! You can find my contact details below.
